Juvenile DUI

Juveniles who are charged with Driving under the Influence have unique risks to their record and license. Unlike adult DUIs, a juvenile is DUI at a blood alcohol concentration of .02 or greater.

DUI has dual components and impacts: the criminal aspect and the driver's license aspect. On the criminal side, a juvenile can be punished for a first DUI with a fine and confinement. Unless the juvenile's BAC is .08 or greater, the confinement can be probated. The punishments are increased for subsequent DUIs.

Suspension of a juvenile's license for a DUI conviction is 6 to 12 months. Juveniles do not qualify for a limited driving permit.

Defensive driving and DUI education is often an important component to the disposition of a juvenile's DUI. Because the consequences are so high for juveniles, an attorney will help navigate the system through to the end, fighting for alternative resolutions. At the Juvenile Law Group, we not only represent the client, but aim to assist with the whole issue leading to a juvenile DUI. As a parent, both you and your child are our number one priority.
